Recommended Shaving Creams & After Shave Lotions for Summertime

Some shaving products are not particularly suitable for summertime.
Sandalwood, Spanish Leather, Coconut and Almond shaving creams are, in our opinion, better suited to winter and autumn. While, thick, protective after shave balms that clog the skin pores are going to leave your skin shiny and sweaty when the mercury rises.

Cooling Shaving Creams

There are shaving creams and balms that are especially effective in the summer months.
The Executive Shaving Company Fuar Ach Snog (Scottish Gaelic for cold but nice) range includes shaving cream, aftershave balm and pre-shave oil. Launched in December 2018, the Fuar Ach Snog shaving cream is already the top-selling cream we sell.
The cream and balm ingredients include peppermint oil and menthol which deliver a soothing, cooling sensation when applied to the skin. The cream also includes shea butter and glycerin, combined they deliver wonderful razor glide and skin protection to reduce any irritation during shaving. The shaving cream comes in a 200ml jar and due to its density, a jar will last around 6 months daily shaving while the 150ml aftershave balm comes in an aluminium bottle. Both containers and lids are recyclable.

Italian shaving products are always in demand, Extro Cosmesi is a brand we highly rate, their Freddo (cold) shaving cream and matching aftershave splash is a wonderfully cooling blast of menthol and eucalyptus. Buy them together as a set and save £2.50.

Fine Aftershave is an American brand and lovers of high octane menthol shaving products will adore their Snake Bite aftershave splash, this is a maximum menthol, full face freeze menthol aftershave. It cools shaves skin like no other product I have ever used. My favourite shave is to use our Fuar Ach Snog shaving cream and then apply Snake Bite. I let my skin settle down for 10 minutes or so before applying Fuar Ach Snog aftershave balm. For me, this is the very best menthol/mint shave possible. The Snake Bite labelling raises a smile, it says:

• The meek become leaders of men
• It burns like the devil
• It freezes like the Rockies
• It cures all that ails you

Taylors Peppermint Shaving Cream is good value for money and lathers up easily. Cooling on the skin with a pleasant, but not overpowering, minty scent.

Cooling Aftershave Lotions & Balms

An aftershave lotion or balm should soothe, cool and moisturise the skin. As well as the Fuar Ach Snog minty after shave balm, there are two others that are highly recommended for summer.
We highly rate Scottish Fine Soaps Thistle & Black Pepper After Shave Balm. But it's not half as cooling as Fitjar Folgefonn Aftershave Cooling Gel, this is the one for me in the summer. Even in the heat of Spain in July last year, it left me refreshed and cooled. It dries in almost instantly leaving no oily residue on the face. Pleasingly, it contains only natural products and it's suitable for all skin types.

Goodfellas' Lemon Mint aftershave splash is one of my favourite summer scents. It's typically European; lightly scented with lemon and mint. The matching soft shaving soap is really nice too, buy both at the same time and save money.
